Nature Storyteller Krishna Kumari

Krishna started wildlife photography (avian) as a hobby one year back. Before that, she was into the mobile macro photography. She used to click flowers with a point and shoot camera.

A nature lover who always wants to stay in lush greens, she is one of the best photographers among Nature Storytellers. With grit and passion, she has been clicking shots of birds and wildlife. Now she uses Nikon D500 that she upgraded after using Nikon D3500 extensively.

She joined the Delhi Bird Photographers group and started exploring the areas as a newbie but has become a pro in less than a year. Earlier she used to think like “Wow, birds are so colourful. Where can I see them?” Today everyone else thinks the same after seeing her amazing photographs shot in the wild.

A geophysicist by profession, she never shies away from utilising every opportunity to venture out in the raw nature. Be it early morning or late evening, she is ever ready to go out and click photos in the natural habitat of birds and animals.

She is a mother of two children but you will never see any sign of fatigue or distress in her while she is in the lap of nature. Well-supported by her husband and family members to pursue her passion, she is making the most of this opportunity.

She considers, Nishant Rana, who is a great photographer with huge technical knowledge in photography as her mentor. She has learnt taking take eye-level shots, flying shots, making frames, etc. from him. She can often be seen birding in the wild with Sumit K Sum and Jitin Kalra, where most call them “The Trio”.

After one year of a wonderful journey, she has finally got really addicted to birding and nature. Since the first day, there has been no day that she has spent without seeing birds. Even after having more than 25,000 followers on Instagram, she still considers herself as a professional or wildlife photographer, which we do not agree to.

She specialises in clicking birds, moments of mating rituals, feeding, tossing, fighting, their communications, behaviour, identification, beautiful habitats, sunrise, sunset, golden hour moments, etc. These inputs help other fellow photographers while understanding bird behaviour and remain prepared for clicking the birds in their natural habitat.

Her work has been featured on many Instagram pages, published in Nat Geo, Wild Bird Revolution, etc.

She believes, “Nature is full of surprises, be it a bird or an animal or anything; you should just capture it. Keep clicking and keep sharing.”
